―Richard Gerber, M.D.
As Albert Einstein expressed in his famous
E = m∙c2 equation in 1905,
the realms of matter and energy are inescapably linked.
Everything is Energy and Energy is All There Is. The term energy is generally associated with two kinds of energy fields–veritable energy fields, which can be measured, and putative (or subtle) energy fields, which (for the most part) cannot be measured with current technology. The human body creates and is affected by both types of energy fields. While veritable energy fields have many well-established uses in the diagnosis and treatment of illness and disease, work with subtle energy fields has shown some promising results, but substantiating scientific research is still in the early phases.
Energy Medicine is a collective term that is used to refer to a variety of approaches and techniques involving subtle energy fields as well as a measurable regulating field of energy and information–the Human Body-Field. The subtle fields are believed to connect into the physical body through various subtle energy system, such as the acupuncture meridians and the chakras. Extensive research has shown that the body-field operates in the physical body at the sub-cellular level and serves as the master control system for all physiological functions.
Energy medicine is a dynamic form of healthcare in which energy is the medicine and also the patient (energy interventions are used to help balance the body’s energy systems). It implements a holistic approach to healing and wellness, integrating aspects of mind, body, spirit, and emotions.
The premise of energy medicine is that unrestricted flow and balance of the body’s subtle energies and an undistorted body-field are vital for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health and for fostering high-level well-being. Based on the concept that every physical, mental, or behavioral problem has an energetic counterpart which can be addressed at that level, energy medicine focuses on identifying blockages and imbalances in the body’s energy systems and fields and on engaging specific processes, techniques, and protocols for balancing and restoring them to increase vitality, strengthen mental capacities, and optimize health.
Energy medicine is both a complement to conventional medical therapies and, in itself, a comprehensive system for holistic healthcare. It has been gaining in popularity in many parts of the world, especially in light of the proliferation of lifestyle diseases and skyrocketing healthcare costs. However, at this point energy medicine is considered experimental and complementary or alternative to the traditional healthcare practices that are licensed in the United States.
If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration. ―Nikola Tesla
Mehmet C. Oz, M.D., MBA, cardio-thoracic surgeon, Vice-Chair and Professor of Surgery at Columbia University, and host of the Dr. Oz Show on TV, proclaimed on The Oprah Show in 2007 that Energy Medicine is the next big frontier in medicine. Taking note of Dr. Oz and his support for complementary and alternative therapies, growing parts of the medical community are starting to embrace energy-based approaches as integral components of a comprehensive healthcare system.
In the vision of C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D., neurosurgeon, psychologist, and founding President of the American Holistic Medical Association, Energy Medicine is the future of all medicine. His most recent book, Energy Medicine–The Future of Health, details practical applications and provides scientific insights into the efficacy of selected energy-medicine methods.

As a complement to session work with a trained energy-medicine practitioner, energy-balancing self-care techniques can be used to accelerate the healing process and support lasting wellness.
The primary energy-medicine modalities we currently offer at Mountain Light Healing are NES Health, Eden Energy Medicine, the Emotion Code, and trauma-sensitive Gentle Energy Medicine (GEM) Yoga. We also employ shamanic practices and provide Reconnection® services and private instruction in the MELT Method® hand and foot self-care techniques.
The short video clip below provides a glimpse at the body’s subtle energy systems:
Your body is engineered so that if you tap into its healing force, that force will lead you toward health. It is not just the personality or the soul wanting the body to get better. The body wants to heal, and every cell carries extraordinary intelligence and fortitude. While we all sometimes need outside help and direction, healing is an inside job. ―Donna Eden
