By viewing this website you will be introduced to the concept of holistic stress management and to energy medicine and other related information in the field of energy healing, including NES Health, Donna Eden’s Eden Energy Medicine, and Dr. Bradley Nelson’s Emotion Code (collectively Energy Medicine). The term energy is generally associated with two kinds of energy fields–veritable energy fields, which can be measured, and putative (or subtle) energy fields, which (for the most part) cannot be measured with current technology. The human body creates and is affected by both types of energy fields. While veritable energy fields have many well-established uses in the diagnosis and treatment of illness and disease, work with subtle energy fields has shown some promising results, but substantiating scientific research is still in the early phases.

Energy Medicine is a collective term that is used to refer to a variety of approaches and techniques involving subtle energy fields as well as a measurable regulating field of energy and information–the Human Body-Field. The subtle fields are believed to connect into the physical body through various subtle energy systems, such as the acupuncture meridians and the chakras. Subtle energies can be perceived through their effects and, at least by some individuals, through various senses. Extensive research has shown that the body-field operates in the physical body at the sub-cellular level and serves as the master control system for all physiological functions. The practice of Energy Medicine is based on the concept that every physical, mental, or behavioral problem has a counterpart in the body’s energy systems and fields which can be addressed at that level.

The prevailing premise of Energy Medicine is that unrestricted flow and balance of the body’s subtle energies and an undistorted body-field are vital for mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health and for fostering high-level well-being. Energy Medicine focuses on identifying blockages and imbalances in the body’s energy and information fields and on engaging specific processes and techniques to resolve them, with the goal of boosting health and vitality. Some of these approaches, such as the NES Health system and Eden Energy Medicine, are directive in nature and rely on a trained practitioner to identify and address specific issues in the body-field or specific subtle energy systems; other approaches, such as Reiki and Reconnective Healing®, are non-directive and focus on facilitating a process that is believed to be guided by a higher intelligence.

Unless specifically licensed to do so, practitioners of Energy Medicine are not diagnosing or treating the physical body, which is the domain of the medical fields and other allied healthcare professions, but instead are working with the energy and information flows and structures in the body-field and with the body’s subtle energies. Ideally, imbalances in the subtle energy systems and distortions in the body-field are detected and resolved before they manifest as symptoms of illness or disease in the physical body. If symptoms are already presenting in the physical body, Energy Medicine offers a diverse set of holistic tools to complement and support traditional treatment options.

There is a distinction between healing using Energy Medicine and the practice of medicine or any other licensed healthcare practice whose mission it is to cure. The purpose of healing is to achieve a state of wholeness, whereas curing means to erase symptoms of illness or disease in the physical body. Although Energy Medicine appears to have promising mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional benefits, it has yet to be fully researched by the Western academic, medical, and psychological communities and therefore is considered experimental at this time. Energy Medicine is, for the most part, self-regulated and is considered complementary or alternative to the traditional healthcare practices that are licensed in the United States. While Verena Vomastic has extensive training and experience in the healing arts as an energy-medicine practitioner and stress-management educator, she is not a physician, psychologist, psychotherapist, or other licensed healthcare provider nor are her services licensed by the State of Colorado.
